What we do...
BWF works toward mobilizing, networking and institutional
capacity building to support leadership amongst the local
women's NGOs that are registered by the ministry of Women
and Children Affairs (MWCA).
Those organization that do not qualify for any local
financing institutes or any other service delivery or
resource organization due their smaller size, remoteness,
lack of skill, how to develop project proposal,
sophistication and lack of access in to informational and
professional approach. BWF provide fund in the following
areas:

Our Projects………
Girl’s Education
BWF has been working on enhance the Girls Education and
supplement the government Education for rural boys and girls
which has been addressing Gender disparity in Secondary and
Higher Secondary level. Initially BWF started the girl
education program in 37 high schools and 2 collages in Saver
Thana. Furthermore the program was expended to 181 high
schools and 27 colleges in 13 Thanas of Kishoreganj
District. Subsequently the program has been expended to 5
districts in partnership with 10 Local Women NGOs in 5
districts. Each district covered 2 PNGOs. The PNGOs has the
following areas of intervention of the program:
1. Gender and Human Rights training for the students,
teachers and SMCs
2. Workshop on prevention of Violence against women
3. Formation of students Foundation Parents
counseling
Project Coverage
The current project covers 27 Upazilas of 6 Districts i.e.
Narshingdi, Pabna, Kushtia, Barishal, Patuakhali and
Kishoreganj. Besides, it covers 269 number of Secondary and
Higher Secondary School.
Activities
This program provides
training on gender awareness and human rights, Adolescent’s
health education and prevention of Violence against women to
students, teachers and school management committee (SMC)
members. It also provides training on
gender, human rights and VAW
received training.
Subsequently the program insists to form student Foundation
on Violence against Women (VAW).
Women's Political Participation
Under the project
of above stated, BWF has been facilitated to strengthen the
women representatives of the three tiers of LGI through
Capacity Building; Foundation Formation in Upazila Level,
Districts Level and national level; Advocacy and Networking
both with Women Representatives of LGI, Government Body,
Civil Society, Press and Electronic Media etc. Total 18
PNGOs were involved to implement the project’s activities
all over the country.

covers the women representatives in the three tiers of LGI
in 64 districts.
Capacity
Building of the Women Elected Representatives in Local
Government
Under the
Capacity Building Activity, different training program has
been facilitated to the women representatives in the three
tiers of the Local Government. In the Union parishad level
it has facilitated a 3 days training on
Gender, Human Rights and
Leadership Development UP Women Representative; a
2 days training on Advocacy
Skill Building, Budget Preparation, Utilization and Internal
Transparency to BUPF District committee women
representatives. On the otherhand, in the Municipality level
it has facilitated a 5 days training on
Gender, Human Rights, Advocacy
skill building, budget preparation and utilization training
to the newly elected WWCs of Municipality. Besides, a 3
days training has facilitated on

WWC of Chittagong City Corporation.
Major achievement
The Capacity
Building program has assisted to the women representatives
to improve the quality and also has assisted to be more
efficient. After the training, ¨the UP female
representatives now actively participate in UP monthly
meetings ¨they distribute VGD and VGF cards among the poor
people ¨during UP budget preparation, all UP representatives
participate in preparing projects, activity lists, draft
budget as well as express their needs and views about the
activities and the budget ¨they
are taking steps for positive actions within the law as and
when required, ¨the male
Chairmen now actively enforce participation of one-third
women representatives in UP Standing Committees.
Forum Formation with the Women Representatives of Local
Government in Local and National Level
It has been facilitated to form the Foundation in the
Upazila, Districts and National level to raise the voice of
the Women representatives from the local level to the
central level. One of the effective Foundations is
Stop Violence Against Women (SVAW)
Foundation at Upazila level which has been
working towards Prevention of Violence Against Women. They
are taking to step for positive actions within the law as
and when required.
The main intention to form
District Foundation by UPWR was to conduct
evidence based advocacy and lobby at district level that
come out from Upazila based Foundation, which dealt with
women human rights, SVAW etc. the Foundation also formed to
advocate issues related with UP representatives.
Besides, a National Foundation with 120 WWCs of different
Municipalities has been formed. It was formed to establish
their rights and representation in LGI. The WWCs made their
own action plans to successfully operate their activities.
Combating Violence against Women and Poverty
Social and
Economic Rehabilitation of sexually and physically Assaulted
Girls and Women in Bangladesh
Levels of violence against women and
girls are alarmingly high both within the family, the
community and the wider society. It takes many forms
including wife battering, rape, murder, acid attacks,
psychological abuse, trafficking and forced prostitution,
molestation and sexual harassment. While the physical and
psychological dimensions of gender violence are readily
identifiable, the deprivation of resources, co modification
of women’s bodies through trafficking and forced
prostitution, and deprivation of the most basic rights of
citizenship are also important dimensions of the violation
of women’s human rights.
BWF is therefore, in
association and networking with the grassroots level women’s
organization intensively working on eliminating all forms of
violence against women throughout the country especially for
the poorest and most vulnerable groups of women and girls.
Goals
Restore the Social and Economic Life of the Victims of
Sexually and Physically assaulted girls and women.
Project
Activity
The project has
supported to the victim girls and women through
emergency medical cares and counseling to the victims who
were in serious physical injury or mental trauma;
provide
legal aid assistance and security protection to the poorest and
vulnerable groups of victims of violence; provide
necessary
vocational /entrepreneurship skill training i.e. Poultry,
Goat rearing, Tailoring and Batik-Block for ensuring their
livelihood security and
finally
necessary financial assistance to the most needy for facilitating
self-help employment generation.
Project
Coverage
The target groups of the
project comprise predominantly by young, unmarried or under
aged girls and women who were the victims of Rape, Acid
attacks, Trafficking or forced prostitution or person with
any other form of violence. It has also included abandoned
girls, mothers and wives who can be rehabilitated in to
productive and self-supportive activities without further
exploitation. The project covered 6 districts and 300
victims.
Socio-Economic Development through Women Empowerment
Local Women's
Organizations have not enough funds to run their
micro-credit program and they are not able & eligible to
manage fund from donor, service providers’ agencies & other
organizations. BWF has been working to support LWOs to
ensure strengthening of these organizations’ institutional
capacity building and women’s leadership development. At the
stage of organization BWF realized their financial problem
in micro credit program.

NGOs
Objectives
1.
Small NGOs will capable and strengthening the organizational
capacity and leadership.
2.
NGOs will involve facilitating and contributing more
effectively towards social and economic development of women
in rural Bangladesh.

To strengthening efforts of empowering local women’s NGOs
